Welcome to Arbitect

I am a chartered architect, building engineer and arboriculturist with an academic and practice background in tree-building relationships. I am believed to hold a unique position of the only UK architect that is also a qualified arboriculturist. My bipartite position enables me to understand tree-building issues from both an architect's and arboriculturist's perspective. My professional work straddles built and natural environments, providing professional services that address the integration of trees within architectural designs.

Trees & Buildings co-existing harmoniously

My doctoral research investigated the development of a tree-building system that enables trees and buildings to co-exist in close relationships utilising mitigation principles. Additionally, the development of the system created a bespoke theoretical framework utilising General System Thinking for use when problem-solving in practice, that included addressing sustainability and climate change issues.
